Working From Home Tip
Lots of people who work from home love the Pomodoro technique. It’s simple really: work for 25 minutes, then take a short break. Every 4 ‘Pomodoros’ take a longer break. the longer break is usually around 15-30 minutes.
Mental Wellbeing Tip
Buying a new computer so you can work from home? Be careful if you are buying a Microsoft Windows computer to check the following:
It is not running Microsoft Windows 10S. We have had a couple of people phone us wanting to install full programs on these devices and you can only install Microsoft Store apps, not full programs.
To buy one with at least 256 GB SSD drive. In the past we have had people bring devices into the office with insufficient disk space to install Windows updates and/or store their files. If you are working from home you may need to store more files than you usually do at home.
Think about things such as dvd drives (so you can run installation dvds), VGA or other display adapters (so you can link to a display screen), usb ports (to connect printer, mice, keyboards), wired or wireless.
Our ideal recommendation for a work computer is Windows 10 with an Intel i5 processor or higher, 8 GB RAM or higher, 256 GB SSD drive or higher, optical dvd drive. You may not be able to afford this but if you have an ideal it helps.
If you are finding something technical especially challenging let me know and I will see if I can cover it in a future tip.
Take care. Be safe.
